With the Michigan State Police Troopers Association serving as the catalyst, a fundraising campaign was started in the fall of 1999 to pay for the cost of a memorial. Located on the grounds of the Michigan State Police Training Academy in Lansing, the Fallen Trooper Memorial is a lasting tribute to the memories of those who paid the ultimate price in service to the citizens of this great state. It is a place of solitude where the families and comrades of these brave heroes can find comfort in remembering their loved ones. It is a place of honor, reverence, and dignity.
Costing just over $500,000 to design and build, the Fallen Trooper Memorial was funded exclusively through private donations. Active and retired members of the Michigan State Police family contributed approximately half of the total funds, while private corporations and foundations donated the remaining funds. Every effort was made to accept donations from those corporations and foundations that share the core values of the Michigan State Police and its members.
Although located on state land, the care and maintenance of the Fallen Trooper Memorial is accomplished through private funds. If you wish to make a tax-exempt donation to the Fallen Trooper Memorial, please contact the Michigan State Police Troopers Association at (517) 336-7782.
