Since 2000, the Assistance Fund has made over $250,000 in benevolent contributions and donations, the primary focus being the awarding of scholarships. Each year the Assistance Fund awards twenty $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors in Michigan that are going on to continue their education at a university, college, or accredited trade school. The Assistance Fund also purchases automated external defibrillators (AED's) and donates them to groups and organizations that have a need for them, but could otherwise not afford to purchase them on their own. Lastly, the Assistance Fund provides monetary donations to other recognized charities such as the American Red Cross, the United States Marine Corp Toys for Tots Program, and the Michigan Concerns of Police Survivors, just to name a few.
The Michigan State Troopers Assistance Fund is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) charity. MSTAF raises money through its annual golf outing as well as through optional payroll deduction. Contributions can also be made directly to MSTAF through the Troopers Association. The MSTAF Board of Directors serves without compensation, and 100% of all monies go directly to the programs administered by the Assistance Fund.
If you are interested in making a tax-exempt contribution to the Assistance Fund, please contact the Troopers Association at 517-336-7782.
