Originally from Kawkawlin, Scott enlisted in the State Police in June 1993. After graduating from the 108th Trooper Recruit School he was assigned to Rockford Post #61 where he currently is assigned. Departmentally, Scott has received advanced training as a Field Training Officer. He has received the State Police Award for Professional Excellence for his involvement in the arrest of a suspect wanted for attempted murder.

Scott's active involvement in the Troopers Association began in 1996 when he was elected as the Post Representative at the Rockford Post. Scott was elected to the Executive Board in 2000 as the 6th District Representative. Scott serves as a member of the Transfer Review Board, the Elections Committee, and is the chairman of the Constitution and By-Laws Committee. He has received advanced training in the area of labor law and labor arbitration. Scott also serves the membership in the discipline process as an Association Advocate.

Prior to enlisting as a trooper, Scott served the State Police as a Motor Carrier Officer for four years assigned to Erie Post #28 (now the Monroe Post). Scott holds an associate's degree in general studies from Delta College. He is a member of the Rockford Sportsman's Club.
